Sow in late Spring (i.e. about now) for best results. Pre-soak the seeds in water at room temperature for 24 hours. Plant at a depth of about 1/4" (the size of the seed) in moist compost. Use peat-based or general-purpose compost. Keep the seeds warm, certainly protected from frost, but not too warm, say the inside of a warm room away from any cold windows. Stand the seed pot(s) in a tray of water - do not let the tray dry out completely, but keep a shallow reservoir until germinated. The seeds can take up to 6 months to germinate. Once germinated, protect from outside temperatures at night, i.e. grow indoors or equivalent They aren't _too_ fussy about amount of light - though generally err on the side of plenty. As the plants develop gradually reduce the frequency of watering. Adult plants, i.e. 1 year old+, should be watered only when their compost dries out, but then liberally and immediately. Water with tap water - don't bother with fertilizers etc. they generally don't particularly appreciate such. Repot as necessary Flowers after about 5 years, in December-March. (In all other respects treat as a normal pot/house plant)
